Gryphon; The Cure; Hasidic New Wave Обращаю внимание модераторов, что на сервере в папке gryphon лежит две папки с альбомом Red Queen to Gryphon Three, и обе неполные: одна фактически пустая, в другой только два трека вместо четырех.

www.allmusic.com: Long before he became the standard-bearer for the "ECM sound," churning out discs with a mildly medieval or Scandinavian flavor spiced with enough new age fluff to guarantee sales, Jan Garbarek produced a string of superb albums, culminating in Witchi-Tai-To, his masterpiece. Intriguingly, with the exception of Palle Danielssons "Kukka," all of the pieces here are cover versions, largely culled from the then burgeoning Jazz Composers Orchestra catalog or related musicians. It opens with Carla Bleys "A.I.R.," an incredibly infectious melody heard on her Escalator Over the Hill. Garbareks soprano slithers sensuously around the theme, searching for and finding all manner of variations, while Stenson, a chameleon-like pianist who shows aspects of Jarrett, Tyner, and Alice Coltrane, makes all the right choices in support. Charlie Haden used the Carlos Puebla composition "Hasta Siempre" as a cornerstone for his Liberation Music Orchestra, and Garbarek rips into it with total romantic gusto; his tenor playing has never sounded more robust, muscular, or inspired. The title track by Jim Pepper is given a short but lovely reading, Garbarek withholding its gorgeous theme until the end of the piece, leaving the listener dying to hear more. Which is exactly what Don Cherry did on his Relativity Suite, where his supremely beautiful song "Desireless" lasted barely a minute. Here, its stretched out over the 20-minute mark, Garbarek summoning the spirit of John Coltrane and offering a stunning amount of indefatigable creativity. He might never have reached similar heights since, but Witchi-Tai-To, along with Dave Hollands Conference of the Birds, is one of the two finest jazz albums that ECM ever released, and simply one of the very top jazz albums of the 70s.

На мой взгляд, один из лучших альбомов Гарбарека. Еще нет никакого пафоса, нет не всегда нужной объемности, камерно, то спокойно, то страстно. (Может быть, играет роль, что нет его собственных произведений, не знаю.) Великолепная версия Hasta Siempre, остальное, впрочем, тоже прекрасно. Музыканты все как на подбор: пианист Бобо Стенсон, контрабасист Палле Даниельссон, барабанщик Йон Кристенсен.

Although four years passed since their previous album, these Latin playboys are always up for a party, and The Venezuelan Zinga Son Vol. 1 is no different. Produced by New York house music producers Masters At Work, the bands third domestic album is filled with upbeat salsa ("Esto Es Lo Que Hay" is a riot), soft Brazilian grooves, spacey funk, disco, rock and lounge. They roll it all together into street party of good vibes, sexy beats and lecherous thoughts (see track 14), but what keeps the Brooklyn-based sextet out of gutter is that its hard to find fault when the insidious jams cause you to stop thinking and start dancing. Interestingly, the album seems to ride the arc or raging party: it starts on a promising but mellow tip, then loosens up in the middle part, then rides it out until theres nothing left to give. Los Amigos best effort yet, Zinga is all-purpose fun.

Some things are absolutely certain. No matter how cold and endless the winter may seem, summer will eventually come, and with it a plethora of Latin-tinged dance grooves designed for chill days on the beach and hot nights in the club. The Venezuelan six-piece Los Amigos Invisibles know this, which is probably why on their third album they left the worldbeat cul-de-sac of David Byrnes Luka Bop label in favor of the less internationally specific realm of house music, teaming up with Nuyorican dons Masters at Work to produce The Venezuelan Zinga Son, Vol. 1. But fortunately for the group, Louie Vega and Kenny Dope refuse to just rub them down with house grooves and send them on their way. In fact, contrary to what most folks would expect from an album bearing the iconic MAW logo, most of the tracks here are light-footed Latin numbers, with "Esto Es Lo Que Hay" and "Calne" sounding like pure traditional music played overhead in your corner pupusaria. But the boys do groove ahead on "Ease Your Mind" and "Una Disco Llena," which might have you believing these beats were made with samplers, rather than the real thing. Blending original roots with big-city beats, Los Amigos Invisibles already have their thongs (the sandals) on.
